Improvement of Meeting Room Acoustics in an Office

Information about the project

In this case at BlueVoyant’s meeting room in Leeds (UK), the space suffered from excessive echo and reverberation due to the abundance of hard surfaces such as glass, concrete, and overhead structures. This created significant acoustic challenges, making it difficult for employees to communicate effectively during meetings, particularly on conference calls where clarity of speech was essential.

To address these issues, the project team installed Still Note acoustic panels designed to absorb sound reflections and minimize echo. The 40 mm panels were suspended from the ceiling at a height of 20–30 cm, creating an effective sound absorption zone above the meeting area.

After installation, the reverberation in the room was significantly reduced, resulting in a more acoustically pleasant environment. Speech became much clearer during meetings, which substantially improved communication quality and overall meeting productivity.

Key outcomes:

  • Reduced reverberation levels in the meeting room

  • Improved speech clarity and intelligibility

  • Enhanced communication during meetings

  • Tangible benefits for workplace environment and productivity

Such solutions are particularly effective in office meeting rooms or collaborative workspaces that feature hard surfaces, high ceilings, and glass partitions, as these architectural elements often contribute to poor acoustic conditions.
